Studie untersucht Einfluss der Tomosynthese beim Brustkrebs-Screening 12.06.2018

In der sogenannten ToSyMa-Studie wird geprüft, ob die technische Weiterentwicklung der digitalen Mammographie zum Schichtbildverfahren (digitale Brust-Tomosynthese) den derzeitigen Standard der zweidimensionalen mammographischen Brustuntersuchung im Screening voranbringt. Geplant ist, 80.000 anspruchsberechtigte Frauen zwischen 50 und 69 Jahren, die sich für eine Teilnahme am Screening entschieden haben, für die Datenerhebung zu gewinnen.

Do improvements in the digital technologies used for the early detection of breast cancer also result in increased efficiency in mammography screening? This is the question at the heart of a large-scale research project being undertaken by the Institute of Clinical Radiology at Münster University Hospital (UKM). The so-called ToSyMa study will examine whether technical developments in digital mammography towards image sectioning methods (digital breast tomosynthesis) represent a positive advance over the current standard of two-dimensional mammography screenings.

Am 8. März, am Internationalen Frauentag,  hat jede Frau, die an dem  Brustkrebs-Früherkennungsprogramm teilgenommen hat,  vom Team des Mammographie-Zentrums-Münster in der Königsstraße eine Rose überreicht bekommen.  Frau Magiera hat sich ganz besonders gefreut. Sie hat zum ersten Mal am Mammographie-Screening teilgenommen und wird auf jeden Fall in zwei Jahren wieder an dem Früherkennungsprogramm teilnehmen.

In the biennial mammography screening programme, the most frequent diagnosis of breast cancer in its preliminary stages is, biologically, the most aggressive form. High-grade ductal carcinoma in situ holds the greatest risk of developing into a so-called invasive carcinoma. The tumour in question is malignant and grows into the surrounding tissue, and can spread into the lymphatic nodes and other organs.

Das im Zweijahresintervall durchgeführte Mammographie-Screening hat unter den Brustkrebsvorstufen als häufigste Diagnose die biologisch aggressivste Form ermittelt. Das duktale Carcinoma in situ vom hohen Kernmalignitätsgrad trägt das höchste Risiko zum Übergang in ein „invasives Karzinom“ – einen bösartigen Tumor, der in das umliegende Gewebe wächst und in die Lymphknoten und anderen Organe streuen kann.
